Lincelles, 1862

The 'Lincelles' was said to have carried 80 passengers and 306 male convicts, including one Parkhurst boy from the Isle of Wight. Two convicts died at sea during the voyage.

The ship was said to have embarked convicts at Sheerness, Portsmouth and Portland. Her sole Parkhurst boy was said to have been discharged from Parkhurst on September 13, 1861 which is the date convicts were embarked at Sheerness. The next embarkation date was September 18 at Portsmouth and the final date was September 23 at Portland.

The ship finally set sail from Portland on October 5 and arrived in Fremantle, Western Australia on January 28, 1862.

The sole 'apprentice' who was transported on the 'Lincelles' is listed below.

Most of the Parkhusrt boys were listed in Paul Buddee's book, 'Fate of the Artful Dodger' and in Andrew Gill's later work, 'Forced Labour for the West'.
