Pyrenees, 1851 |
The 'Pyrenees' is said to have left the Isle of Wight on March 30, 1851 and to have arrived in Fremantle, Western Australia on June 28, 1851. She finally set sail from Torbay on March 30 and was said to have carried 96 passengers and 293 male convicts. Among the convicts were 29 Parkhurst boys who embarked at the Isle of Wight. The boys were listed in Paul Buddee's book, 'Fate of the Artful Dodger' and in Andrew Gill's later work, 'Forced Labour for the West'. The 29 'apprentices' who were transported on the 'Pyrenees' are transcribed below.
